Pueblo's Cafe: A Filipino-Chinese fusion that is proudly Dabaweño

Pueblo's Cafe is located outside Robinsons Highlands in Diversion Road, Davao City. It is right beside the stoplight from that road heading to El Rio. Seen to your left if you are heading to Milan, Buhangin.

Homey and sophisticated, this humble cafe is yet to unfold its charm. From the name Pueblo, which is the surname of the owner, it possesses a little bit of a Spanish-Filipino vibe that reminds us of the Maria Clara days our lolo't lola used to tell us. The interior also reminds me of the elegance of the said era but with a hint of spunk from today's millennial generation. Instagrammable walls and floors ignites the blogger in you.

Yes, the place is truly pleasing and admirable but what about the food?

Upon glancing at their menu, I immediately knew that I will be having Filipino cuisine that night. The Piniritong Manok, Iloilo's Chicken Binakol, Kare-Kare, and Shrimp Pasta ala Vodka were some of their highly recommended food.

And, oh yeah,  they serve a bit of Chinese cuisine as well - the Kung Pao Chicken. It was very tasty and it paired my rice superbly (haha). If you haven't tried a Kung Pao chicken (a.k.a. Gong bao or Kung Po), I could describe it as a sweet chinese-style buffalo chicken. It is covered in thick, sweet and sour sauce that has an addictive rich flavor, I recommend this! 👍

I also highly recommend their Kare-Kare!! I don't eat Kare-Kare or even thought about ever liking it in my whole life. I don't eat bagoong, as well, and it normally pairs and compliments this dish. Don't get me wrong though, I have tasted kare-kare because my family likes it (and probably so does 99% of the Philippine population! LOL!) It is almost always present in every Filipino restaurant and my family usually orders it. Amazingly, Pueblo's Kare-kare is an exception! It's the first time I enjoyed kare-kare in my whole life. I don't know if I'm overly exaggerating this because I haven't really mastered the expected taste of it, but yes, among all the kare-kare's that I've ever tasted, this one won my heart.

Aside from their main dishes, they also have smoothies and desserts. They even have Sikwate and Suman!! 👍

Pueblo's Cafe truly appeals to every Davaoeño's meticulous taste. A new comer that measures up to all the other well-known restaurants in Davao City that we have all learned to love and grew up with. Truly a place I would go back to.
